Kiedis told MTV News, "It seems pretty open, pretty apropos to where the band is, what the band's doing, how the record wants to be related to, or related with. It's open, and there's not really a negative connotation. It's inviting."

He was excited that the new guitarist Josh Klinghoffer on the album's title came and went with after producer Rick Rubin nixed Kiedis' idea to name the record after a song.

Kiedis continued, "When I mentioned that to Rick, he said, 'that just makes it seem like we don't have enough ideas. Josh showed up one day, wrote ['I'm With You'] on a piece of paper and we all kind of put our eyes on it at the same time and went: 'That is the title of our record.'"

I'm With You will be released on 30 August. It's first single, "The Adventure of Raindance Maggie," hits radio July 18.
